Krishna Omkar

Krishna Omkar is a London-based corporate lawyer, thought leader, and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. He has over a decade of experience advising public and private companies on complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets, and restructuring and insolvency matters. As the founder of Return on Equity, Krishna focuses on integrating stakeholder capitalism with inclusion and social change to promote sustainable profitability. His work emphasizes creating equitable outcomes and long-term growth by bridging the private sector and civil society. Krishna played a significant role in the decriminalization of same-sex relationships in India. Beginning in 2016, he collaborated with leading counsels Mukul Rohatgi and Anand Grover on the initiative to decriminalize same-sex relations in India. He also helped produce a video featuring eminent Bollywood stars speaking up against homophobia. In recognition of his contributions, Krishna was named one of 75 recipients of the UK-India Achievers Honours in 2023, marking 75 years of India’s independence. Beyond his legal practice, Krishna serves on the boards of several organizations. He joined Athlete Ally’s Board of Directors in 2020, contributing to efforts promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion in sports. In 2022, he was elected to the board of Human Rights First, bringing his expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion to the organization’s human rights initiatives.
